University College Oxford
Our couple met at college in Oxford and returned with friends for their marriage ceremony, which was held in the The College Chapel at Univ, followed by a drinks reception on the lawns and dinner in the Dining Hall.
The college maintains a claim to be the oldest in Oxford (or Cambridge), with origins in the Thirteenth Century, and the Main Quad seen here was rebuilt around the time of the Civil War. The candlelit interior of the chapel created an appropriately romantic atmosphere for the marriage service, and afterwards we all poured out into the light and sunshine of the day.
While the guests enjoyed drinks on the lawns of Radcliffe Quad we briefly strolled the streets to catch a few photographs among the tourists and to visit The Bodleian Library where our couple had spent much time together.
We returned for dinner at the long refectory tables of the Dining Hall followed by speeches and the ‘cake cutting’ before moving outside into the warm Summer night for dancing that took place in a marquee erected in the grounds. The wedding party and guests spilled out into the grounds drinking in the atmosphere and smoking long into the night.
