Loseley Park Surrey
Loseley Park wedding
Our couple were married at the Church of St Peter and St Paul in the centre of Godalming, and traveled by car to Loseley Park near Guildford in Surrey for their wedding reception. After a brief stroll through the house and around the grounds during which we took a few photographs, we rejoined the guests for a drinks reception outside the tithe barn, followed by dinner, speeches and dancing late into the night inside.
Even on a dull dark day that always threatened rain, the honey coloured stone of the house provided a warm background to the day. The house itself has remained virtually unchanged since it was built in the 16th Century and would undoubtedly still be familiar to its original occupants.
Close by stands the tithe barn , and is so called, as it would originally have stored the tax paid in grain by local medieval farmers. Perhaps it is better to visit now as a guest and to drink of the grain and grape instead? The barn can accommodate 140 guests.
