2012.12.13

“We still get many comments on what a wonderful photographer Nick was to have at the wedding!” Gemma

The chaps held their ushers lunch at The Earl of March in Lavant, near Chichester, and despite the organisational spread sheet provided by Michael…

…after a few convivial drinks – a sprint to the church was required.

Meanwhile all was calm at the bride’s mother’s house.

ww

Gemma arrived at St Mary’s Church, East Lavant wearing a dress from The Vintage Wedding Dress Company.

ww

ww

Gemma’s hairpiece was from Glitzy Secrets.

ww

Gemma and Michael left together by car for Farbridge Barn at West Dean, near Chichester.

Tealight lanterns hanging from mistletoe strewn Winter twigs decorated the tables.

A sparse twig motif was continued on the menus.

Miss Claire Sprules and Mr Ben Smith – wedding photography at The Town Hall, and The George in Rye, East Sussex

2012.02.22

I just wanted to say a really big thank you for the beautiful wedding photographs- we absolutely love them! You captured the feeling of the day perfectly and it will certainly be a day we’ll remember with all that snow! My 98 year old Grandma particularly likes the photo of us both and she doesn’t normally like having her picture taken. It’s now in a big frame in pride of place on her mantle piece!  It’s a photo that I will also treasure. I am so grateful that you braved the snow that day to take our pictures. It was amazing the lengths that everyone went to that day to make our wedding so special – thank you! Quite a few of our friends have got engaged over Christmas and you are top of my list of recommendations! Claire & Ben Smith

Claire and Ben were married in Rye amidst deep snow. On the morning of the wedding the ushers valiantly cleared snow along the route that Claire and her father were to take to the Town Hall

ww

Ben gallantly carried his bride’s snow boots from the ceremony.

ww

ww

After the service the whole party walked through falling snow…

ww

…to The George in Rye.

ww

ww

Rex, the Town Crier joined the party for a warming mug of mulled wine…

…and added to the contrasting footwear on display.

Miss Emily Healey and Dom – wedding photography at St Mary’s Church, Ticehurst, and a secret walled garden in East Sussex

2011.12.07

“The photos are amazing, you really captured the essence of the day and what Dom and I had been working so hard to achieve.  Every time I look at the photos I see something new and all the wonderful memories of the day come flooding back.” Emily

A ‘save the date’ card hinted at the principle themes of Emily and Dom’s wedding…

ww

Emily got ready at home and left for church with her family and bridesmaids in an open top motorcar.

The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church, Ticehurst where a flower arbor hinted at what was to come.

Of course, the Ticehurst paparazzi were out in force…

…to greet Emily and Dom as they left the church.

Tractors and trailers pulled into the village square and ferried the guests to the secret reception venue.

The guests were dropped off in the middle of a field, where homemade signs pointed the way.

Set into a stone wall, an iron gate  woven with flowers opened…

…to reveal the most fabulous marquee in the midst of a wild flower meadow.

The marquee had once been a famous musical impresario’s polo tent, but it had surely found its natural home in the secret walled garden.

ww

Inside the marquee hop bines climbed up the supporting poles.

Bunches of country flowers, fruit, nuts and bottles of Fleurie dressed the tables.

Dom and Emily had spent many hours sourcing their collection of mis-matched chairs from local auction houses…

…and they sowed a special seed mix to ensure the tapestry of flowers would be at its peak for the wedding, whatever the weather conditions in the preceding months.

Climbing through the tapestry single poppies and sunflowers created accents of colour, and hiding ground for the younger guests.

ww

An iron tree seat surrounded the trunk of a hawthorn laden with haws.

Organ pipes were reused to support a parachute canopy over the dance floor, and paper lanterns surrounded the marquee.

At dusk electric fairy lights, and paper lanterns began to glow.

ww

ww

The speeches were carried out in a candle-lit scene somewhat reminiscent of Renoir’s Moulin de la Galette

…and the party, drinking and dancing carried on late into the night under the illuminated trees.
