Miss Kate Horsman and Mr Tom Clark – wedding photography at Cliveden House, Taplow, Berkshire – Part II

2012.05.21

The bride arrived at Cliveden in a marvellous 1955 navy blue Bristol hired from a local vintage car enthusiast, while the bridesmaids had the navy blue 1960s Bentley from the same private collection.

In keeping with the quintessential Britishness of the setting, the bride’s wedding gown was created by London-based couturier Suzanne Neville and is a key piece in her 2012 Nostalgia Collection, with its fitted bodice, belted waist and full circle silk organza skirt and train.

The two bridesmaids wore full length dark blue evening dresses from Coast. Just simple, understated elegance.

The pretty ivory and pale pink roses were arranged in attractive silver rose bowls on the mantelpiece in the French Dining Room by the accomplished local florist, Sue Barton Flowers.

The wedding ceremony took place in the hotel’s beautifully ornate French Dining Room with its gilded French grey wall panelling, stunning mirrors, chandeliers and wall sconces.

The bridegroom’s slim-fitting charcoal grey suit was tailored by 40 Saville Row.

Now owned by the National Trust, Cliveden was once the home of Nancy Astor. The family’s wealth is still evident in the portraits on display at this prestigious country house hotel.

The favourite family pooch Lulu, was invited to this lovely wedding and when we looked through the images, we realised that it bears an uncanny resemblance to the little girl’s dog in one of the paintings in the library!

The main hall was available to the wedding party and had the comfortable air of a country weekend house party with its soft lighting, furnishings and inviting drinks trolley.

The couple, together with their close family and wedding guests, dined in the lovely surroundings of the ornate French room.

A first for us, the clever father of the bridgegroom made the cake – fantastic.

“Our book arrived last week, and we just wanted to say a huge thank you – the photos are fantastic! You really captured everything we wanted (and in a brilliantly unobtrusive way!) and we have a wonderful record of our perfect day. Everyone loves the pictures and looking at them reminds us of all the great moments – and helps keep us in our ‘wedding bubble’ after the return to everyday life! Thank you again,” Liz and James
